Jasmin chats with PAXMAN

Jasmin Julia Gupta - Founder of Cancer Hair Care and the UK’s leading cancer hair loss expert has supported thousands of women during their Scalp Cooling experience.

“I remember the days when Scalp Cooling was a case of wrapping bandages around huge ice packs that came out of a freezer, we had to change these packs several times during treatment. Scalp Cooling has come a long way since then. At Cancer Hair Care we are here to support you with our independent FREE 45 page guide that has input from hundreds of women who have experienced scalp cooling. I wanted to get behind the label of the largest scalp cooling company in the world and so decided to interview Claire, who shared with me, why supporting women through hair loss is not just a business but a very personal mission.

Jasmin Chats with UK based Scalp Cooling pioneer Claire, daughter of Sue Paxman the lady who inspired a family on a mission to prevent hair loss.

“When I chat with someone like Claire, an individual who is truly connected with helping people to reduce hair loss during chemo, I want to share this connection with every person who is considering Scalp Cooling as an option.” Jasmin – Founder Cancer Hair Care

Let’s find out about Paxman scalp coolers – By Jasmin Julia Gupta

Claire explained to me that her mum was a complete inspiration to the development of the family Paxman scalp cooling System. Below is some of the information I want to share with you all. Whilst Paxman isn’t the only company offering scalp cooling techniques, it is in my opinion (with over 20 years experience with scalp cooling) offering the very best options available and working hard towards zero hair loss options in the future.

Who is behind Paxman?

In 1992, Claire’s mum Sue was diagnosed with breast cancer. During her fight with cancer, Sue lost her hair, an incredibly traumatic experience for her and the whole family. During this time her husband Glenn was determined to find a way to help her retain their hair and through the family business, he and his brother Neil developed the first Paxman scalp cooler.

Claire added: “When mum lost her hair we all shared her distress. At the age of 14 I cut off all of her beautiful curly hair which was heart-breaking. We don’t want others to have to go through this and are committed to ensuring that everyone undergoing chemotherapy treatment keeps their hair and will not stop until we achieve zero hair loss.”

What is  the Paxman overview of Scalp Cooling?

Today Paxman scalp cooler is the world’s leading hair loss prevention system for chemotherapy patients, used by over 100,000 patients in 32 countries. Scalp cooling provides the only real alternative to hair loss resulting in a high level of retention or complete hair preservation, improving patients’ self-confidence and creating positive attitudes towards treatment. The scalp cooling method works by lowering scalp temperature before, during and after the administration of chemotherapy.

Used all over the world, the Paxman scalp cooling system is made from lightweight, silicone tubing. The scalp cooling cap is soft and flexible - providing a snug yet comfortable cap during treatment.  Moulding to all head shapes and sizes, liquid coolant passes through the cap extracting heat from the patient's scalp, ensuring the scalp remains at an even, constant temperature to minimise hair loss.
