What is the difference between hair loss and hair thinning?

Some chemotherapy drugs can cause complete hair loss, hair thinning or no effect to hair at all. So when your nurse advises you that your treatment may cause hair loss this tends to refer to complete loss of hair resulting in none or very little hair remaining.
