At Cancer Hair Care we are proud to have developed our unique FREE “Gigs and Wigs” and “Happy Heads” charity services to help children with hair loss due to cancer treatments. We deliver a number of complex services including bedside visits to our teenage patients in hospitals. Our consultants have developed a unique approach that deals with the psychological and physical needs of our young patients as they face hair loss.

Specialist services for children with hair loss due to cancer treatments:

FREE Hats for little heads - hand made scarves and hats to fit tiny tots and children. The hats are designed for maximum comfort and include features such as easy to tie scarves and hats with fake hair attached.

FREE Specialist dollies - our knitted topsy turvy dolly helps children to understand hair loss through play. The dolly has hair on one side and no hair on the other. Each dolly comes complete with little hats and scarves for children to play with.  Dollies are available in multiple skin colours. Each dolly is health and safety checked.

FREE Happy Hat Boxes – out reach parcels full of bespoke specialist hair loss items are delivered to suit the individual needs of each child and can be sent to children to unwell to attend sessions.

FREE One to one in hospital tutorials so that children have not only the specialist items they need but the practical know how in order to create their looks independently.

Free specialist items designed for teenagers such as hats, scarves fake fringes, eyelashes, shampoo's for new hair growth and more. We can customise scarves for individual wishes and provide unique hair loss items.

Over 1800 children and teenagers helped during 2016. Working toegther with the Teenage Charity Trust we have given away hundreds of FREE hats, scarves and caring in-hospital bed side services. We work at UCLH Hospital London and The Royal Marsden. To book a session in your hospital please contact our team.

We urgently need to focus on support to help children and teenagers with cancer through our pioneering ‘Gigs and Wigs’ and ‘Happy Heads’ in-hospital and on-line services. With the funding we currently have in place we estimate that only a quarter of the young people who need our support will receive it. With this in mind and in line with the’ International Charter of Rights for Young People with Cancer’ may we kindly ask that you consider ‘Gigs and Wigs’ as an urgent call for support.

£25,000 a year will help children and teenage cancer patients in the UK cope with hair loss.

The sessions are currently offered in hospitals in London and South East but with your help every child in the UK could benefit from our support. Our support service is the only one of it’s kind in the country which offers children & teenagers items such as age appropriate wigs and scarves and specialist shampoo’s to support them throughout their entire hair loss and cancer journey.
